MoE Postpones Opening of School Session to January 9

The third term of the 2021/2022 school session which is supposed to begin on January 2 and January 3 of 2022 has been postponed for a week, as announced by Minister of Education, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin today.

In a statement, he informed that the Ministry of Education (MoE) decided on the date change following the recent devastating floods. 

According to him, taking the current flood situation into consideration, the school session will begin on January 9 and January 10 for group A and group B respectively. 

“MoE cares about the welfare of teachers, students and parents impacted by the current flood situation.

“We understand that they need time to prepare for necessities before being able to start the school session,” he said in the statement.

The states in group A are Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu while states in group B are Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. 

MoE previously announced that the third term of 2021/2022 school session will begin on 2 January 2022 till 20 March 2022 for schools in group A and 3 January till 20 March 2022 for group B. 

Meanwhile, the academic calendar for the 2022/2023 school session will begin on 21 March 2022 and end on 11 and 12 March 2023.
