Community Police Booth at Meru Raya Terminal Provides Security

The safety of members of the public, especially users of the public transport services at Meru Raya Terminal in Ipoh, is always prioritised.

Thus, the operator of Meru Raya Terminal, Perak Transit took the initiative to build a community police booth for the use of security personnel when performing their duties.

The recent officiating ceremony of the community police booth was completed by Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid together with Executive Director of Perak Transit, Datuk Cheong Peak Sooi.

In his speech, Datuk Cheong explained that the establishment of the community police booth is to serve the people and provide a sense of safety when using the premises.

“Perak Transit is supportive of the police’s effort in monitoring the effective implementation of the Safe City programme in curbing street crime at the Meru Raya Terminal.

“For your information, the Perak Transit always welcomes cooperation with agencies in the effort to deliver information to the community,” he stated.

The community police booth, measuring 10×10 feet, is equipped with an air conditioner, chair and table. It operates 24 hours a day, although it may vary depending on the schedule for police patrols as well.

It is a move aimed to reduce the number of crime cases.
