The Pangkor International Marine Tourism Conference 2022 (PIMTC 2022) was a successful discussion platform for various challenges faced by marine operators and international sailors.
President of Perak Tourism Association, Dato’ Mohd. Odzman Abdul Kadir said PIMTC 2022 served as a starting point to recover the nautical tourism sector, especially of the state.
“The aim of PIMTC 2022 is to discuss all the issues which have not been voiced previously and should be highlighted.
“A total of seven speakers from various departments have presented talks on marine-related topics such as sailing safety.
“I’m sure all issues can be resolved over time and one day the international sailors will no longer make Pangkor Marina as merely a bypass or shortcut to go to north of Thailand and south of Sabah,” he said after the flag-off of the yachts at Marina Island Pangkor recently.
He highlighted the vision to make Marina Pangkor as one of the marine tourism hubs due to its strategic location in the middle of the sail route to north and south.
“Excellent administration and facilities will assist the sailors especially on matters related to immigration, laws and others.
“Our responsibility is to collect the summary of discussion at the end of the conference to be forwarded to the state government, ministries and Prime Minister’s Office for consideration.
