Beach Clean-up by UPSI and MPM

A total of 110 students of the Za’ba College of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Tanjung Malim went on site for the university’s community service programme at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre at Segari on Saturday.

It was held in collaboration with members of the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) and the State Department of Fisheries.

According to MPM’s Community and Social Development Department, the programme was praised as it showed the awareness among students on caring for the environment.

According to a statement, the participants carried out cleaning activities at the beach, complex premises and turtle ponds as well as planted trees.

“The participants get to see turtle hatchlings being released into the sea.

“The Department of Environmental Health and City Services for Zone 3 provides rubbish bags and bins for the clean-up.

A total of 45 saplings were contributed by the Landscape Unit of MPM to be planted along the beach.

The objectives of the programme were to promote conservation and preservation of the environment besides instilling volunteer spirit in the young generation.
