A Lively 70th Sports Day at SMK Raja Perempuan

More than 2,000 were in attendance for the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Raja Perempuan’s 70th Sports Day this morning, including parents and family members.

The school field was lit up with colourful tents representing the sports houses to add to the excitement.

The lively day also saw the attendance of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, as the guest of honour to officiate the event.

Present was the chairperson for Pertubuhan Rakan Komuniti Pendidikan Perak (PRKPP), Datin Normah Hanum Dato’ Ibrahim.

Their arrival was welcomed by the school principal, Wiza Rozahrin binti Mohamed Radzi; head of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association, Syahrizal Azmi and Ipoh City Councillor, Dr Richard Ng.

The event started at 8.30am with a parade of state flags and flags of sports houses by the Police Cadet Corp.

Each sports house also featured a mascot in addition to a beautifully-dressed sign bearer.

Meanwhile, in his officiating speech, Ahmad Faizal Azumu praised the dedication of the students, and especially the school management in organising the event.

According to him, the programme can not only bring out the potential of the students but also cultivate a sporting culture.

“I congratulate the school for being able to organise this great event.”

“This also shows that sports are just as important, alongside academics; as through sports, we can produce active and intelligent students,” he said.
