Perak Water Resources Enactment Bill 2022 Deferred: Bi-partisan Committee Established

The proposed deferment of the Perak Water Resources Enactment Bill 2022 was made after taking into account the arguments and views put forward by elected representatives from both the government and the opposition, said Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad.

Saarani said a bi-partisan committee comprising representatives of both the government and the opposition would be set up to refine and harmonise the bill.

“This is to ensure that when it is tabled again, it will truly reflect the wishes and aspirations of the people’s representatives,” he said at a press conference after the Perak State Assembly sitting on Wednesday.

He added that the state assembly session which lasted for three days since last Monday saw two bills tabled and debated by elected representatives, from the government and the opposition.

The two bills are the Perak Water Resources Enactment Bill 2022 and the Dissolution of the Perak Islamic Economy Development Corporation Bill.

“The dissolution of the Perak Islamic Economy Development Corporation Bill has already been approved while the Perak Water Resources Enactment Bill 2022 has been postponed to a date to be determined.

He also expressed his appreciation to all the elected representatives who once again showed maturity in their arguments. In addition to an objective view by placing the interests of the people and the state as a priority rather than party political boundaries.
