Giving Incentives To Green Development

Special incentives will be given to any development plan that practices green development such as ‘green architecture building’.

The Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said it was part of an initiative involving environmental sustainability and strengthening the vision of making Ipoh a low-carbon city by 2030.

“The Ipoh City Council (MBI) strongly encourages the use of renewable energy sources such as the Biogas Renewable Energy Plant Project..

“As well as the production of energy-efficient sources of electricity such as the collaboration between MBI and TNB, with more than 50 thousand conversions of energy-efficient LED street lights,” he said.

He said this during the August Council Plenary Meeting and the presentation of the MBI Budget Year 2023 at the MBI Council Hall on Tuesday.

He added that the goals and challenges in reducing overall carbon emissions from the city are in line with the country’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by 2030.

He said it can provide more sustainable development and reduce energy waste.

“For that, as much as RM1 million is provided for the year 2023.

“This makes the projected value of the overall development of Ipoh Low Carbon City, worth RM20 million by the year 2030,” he said.

In the meantime Rumaizi said Ipoh is indeed known for the beauty of its limestone and other natural treasures.

He said the development of Lembah Kinta Geopark focused on the balance of three main components, namely natural resource conservation, infrastructure development for tourism and socio-economic activities that benefit the local community.
