Two Men Arrested for Possessing Fireworks Worth RM400,000 Without a Permit

The police arrested two local men for the possession of fireworks without a permit at a shophouse at Tanjung Rambutan recently.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri stated that a lorry and 715 boxes of various fireworks worth up to RM400,000 were seized.

He added that the arrest was done via the crime investigation division of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters at 5.30pm based on information received.

“From the implemented operation, the police successfully arrested two local men aged 29 and 30 and seized the lorry as well as the boxes of fireworks.

“Preliminary investigation found that all the seized fireworks were being kept without a permit in that shophouse,” he said via a statement on Friday.

According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 8 of Explosives Act 1957.

“The two men will be remanded for four days till Monday for further investigation.

He also asked for cooperation from members of the public to directly channel any information on illegal activities to the police to curb crime and ensure public safety.
