The Sultan Of Perak Has Not Yet Approved The Dissolution Of The State Assembly

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah will finalise any decision for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) after considering it later.

The matter was announced by Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad while reading a media statement at a press conference this afternoon.

In the statement, Saarani said that he had met Sultan Nazrin at Istana Kinta at 2.30pm to be informed of the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the dissolution of Parliament on October 10.

“I am also aware of the Prime Minister’s recommendation that the Heads of State Governments take appropriate action for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly to enable elections to be held simultaneously.

“Accordingly, at the session in question, I submitted the application for the dissolution of the 14th Perak State Assembly for the consideration of His Majesty the Sultan of Perak, in accordance with Clause (2), Article 36 of the First Section, Perak State Constitution Darul Ridzuan.

“At the session, His Majesty said that His Majesty is aware of the application submitted and will make the appropriate consideration.

“Therefore, any decision on the application for the dissolution of the Perak state assembly will be announced after His Majesty’s due consideration before making a decision,” he said in the statement.

The dissolution of the State Assembly is to make way for the 15th General Election (GE-15) to run simultaneously.

In GE14, Perak BN won 27 out of 59 state assembly seats and 11 out of 24 parliamentary seats contested.
