Man arrested on suspicion of being involved in a murder case at Jalan Leong Sin Nam

A 51-year-old man was arrested after being suspected of  involvement in the murder of an elderly man in Jalan Leong Sin Nam, early this morning.

According to Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the suspect was arrested near Jalan Sultan Idris Shah at 6.50am on Sunday.

“At 5.22am, the police received information from the public that there was a man lying unconscious by the side of a shop at Jalan Leong Sin Nam.

“Investigation by the police at the scene together with forensic clinical experts, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, found that the victim was lying on his back, on the side of the sidewalk of a shop.

“A preliminary examination of the victim’s body found that there were wounds on the chin caused by sharp weapons and scratches on both hands,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

In the meantime, he said, with the arrest of the suspect, the murder case was successfully resolved within two hours after the report was received.

He said the case was investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder).

“The police have obtained a remand order for 7 days, from 16 to 22 October on this suspect to help with further investigation,” he added.

Mohd Yusri said the victim’s body had been sent to the Forensic Department, HRPB Ipoh for post-mortem, to identify the cause of death.
