YTL Communications’ Yes recently launched their Commercial 5G service in Ipoh at the Ipoh City Council, continuing the expansion of their 5G network across Malaysia. Along with the latest launch of Yes 5G in Penang, this key milestone is in line with Yes’ ongoing commitment to provide affordable 5G services and solutions for all Malaysians, as Malaysia’s first 5G telco.
Key locations in Ipoh are now equipped with 5G connectivity and incredible speeds, with Ipoh Railway Station alone having 5G download speeds of 715Mbps – nearly 100Mbps higher than the nationwide average of 620Mbps. With 5G coverage focused in the Ipoh area, the current 5G sites in the city include Medan Ipoh, Ipoh Town, Station 18, Bercham, Tambun, Gunung Rapat and Bandar Sri Botani. Yes aims to continue deployment of the 5G network across the state of Perak.

Bhg Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud, and representatives from Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Digital Perak. The agreement between both parties supports the 5G rollout in the city of Ipoh, providing local residents and businesses with 5G connectivity and access to Yes Infinite Gateway 5G Wireless Broadband, Yes First To 5G prepaid plans and Yes Infinite 5G postpaid plans. The expansion of Yes 5G services into the city is also in line with Ipoh city’s goals to enable a smart, low-carbon and prosperous city by 2030.
