Day by day, the stress builds. Such is the case for Mohamed Safri Sabri Zainudin, 35, the father of Nur Aqilah Zahra Mohamed Safri Sabri, eight months old, who suffers from Bilateral Lambdoid Suture Craniosynostosis.
Mohamed Safri said that his youngest child needs to undergo surgery to treat a head that was not perfect since birth.
“My daughter needs to undergo surgery at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) immediately because the structure of her head is getting stressed and enlarged.
“The doctor advised us to seek further treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL). If it is delayed, it may bring more risks and complications. The total cost of the surgery has yet to be estimated.
“Before that, the next follow-up treatment will be at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) next month, where the doctor will examine my daughter and issue a report for referral to a specialist doctor at HKL,” he said when interviewed at his home in Taman Pinji Mewah.
Mohamed Safri, previously working as a truck driver had to stop because of the difficulty in dividing his time to take care of his family.
He now does his own jobs including, selling recycled goods and hiring out a lawnmower to cover the expenses of Nur Aqilah, his eldest child Muhammad Aqil Zafran, 8, in standard 2 and Nur Aqish Zahra, 4.
His average monthly income is uncertain, at times it is RM1,000.00 per month, according to the job opportunities offered.
Meanwhile his wife Zuraida Idris, 35, said her husband’s monthly income was just enough to eat.
“We have to pay a house rent of RM500.00 per month, monthly bills, children’s schooling expenses and many more. It is not enough.
“What is worrisome now, is that one of Nur Aqilah’s ears has been confirmed to have started to enter water from inside the head by the doctor.
“We need to raise funds for the expenses and costs of Nur Aqilah’s surgery if the doctor orders to do so at HKL,” he told Ipoh Echo.
