Lorry driver died in a three-vehicle crash

A man died after the lorry he was driving was involved in an accident with a trailer and a lorry at kilometre (km) 352.2 of the North-South Highway, southbound, this morning.

A spokesman for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak said the 29-year-old victim who was driving the 5-tonne lorry was pronounced dead at the scene.

He further said that his party received a call regarding the incident at 5.13am, before members of the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.

“The accident involving two 5-ton lorries and a trailer resulted in the death of one lorry driver, while two other drivers from other vehicles were safe.

“Members acted to remove trapped victims using power units and rescue equipment.

“The deceased victim was then handed over to the police for follow-up action,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II Norazahan Noor Fauzi ended at 6.45am.
