The Ipoh City Council (MBI) lost an estimated RM135,000 after the room that housed cables and floodlight components at the Perak Stadium was broken into last Tuesday.

The mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, said the incident was noticed when MBI was carrying out maintenance work in preparation for the Malaysian Football League (MFL) which will be held on February 25.

“The maintenance team found that high mast pole room 3 had been broken into.

“Almost the entire cable has been cut and floodlight components have been stolen by irresponsible parties,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said, a report has been made and the investigation has been fully handed over to the police.

“Following the incident, MBI has tightened security controls throughout the Perak Stadium area.
