False statement of slope collapse in Lahat

IPOH: The housing developer company has filed a police report against a TikTok account owner for falsely claiming that a landslide occurred near a residential area in Lahat Waterfront City, recently.

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) said in a statement that the previous claims of landslides in the Lahat Mines development area were untrue and there had been no such incident in the area.

He also said that slope repair and rehabilitation works are indeed being carried out in stages according to the progress of the project.

“Following the spread of a TikTok video regarding the alleged landslide in the Lahat Mines development area, it is informed that the spread of the video is not true.

“It was also informed that there were small cracks in the ground that occurred in the development area and since the development is still ongoing, the slope repair and restoration works are indeed being carried out in stages according to the progress of the project.

“The company has made a police report against the owner of the TikTok account on the false statement because it could cause damage to the company’s name and the sale of their houses,” he said on Monday.

According to him, the existing consultant was appointed by the company to give advice and inform the slope repair and rehabilitation works that are suitable to be carried out.

It involves slope care techniques such as hydroseeding Centrosema pubescent, berm drain, casket drain, sump pump, water discharge system’ and the construction of suitable drainage ditches for water flow to prevent soil erosion from happening again.

He said the construction is being carried out in line with the development that has been approved.

Previously the media reported that MBI was still waiting for a complete report from the developer regarding the alleged landslide near the residential area in Lahat Waterfront City.

A video lasting one minute and 11 seconds was shared by a TikTok account owner who claimed that the landslide occurred near a residential area and was a risk to nearby residents.
