IPOH – Four local authorities (PBT) in the state of Perak achieved success when they received awards at the 2023 Local Authorities Convention.

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) was awarded second place in the PBT Star Rating System (SPB-PBT) evaluation for the city category implemented in 2022.

For the Municipal and District category, Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) and Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) won first place followed by Kampar District Council (MDKpr).

This assessment involves 153 PBT across the country.

This year Ipoh is hosting the Local Authority Convention 2023 with the theme MADANI Township – Prosperous People at the Ipoh Convention Center (ICC) here.

The convention held last Saturday and Sunday was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) through the Local Government Department (JKT) in collaboration with MBI.

It is to strengthen the role of PBT in addition to providing opportunities for council members to exchange views and contribute ideas towards making PBT services more dynamic and progressive.

This convention was also attended by the Minister of Local Government Development, Nga Kor Ming.

Meanwhile, while speaking at the event, the Director General of Public Services (KPPA), Dato’ Dr Zulkapli Mohamed said, good governance is a way of management that focuses on the main principles.

It involves aspects of transparency, accountability, justice and efficiency when delivering services to the people.

“In addition to efficient governance, integrity is also important because the moral and ethical quality of each individual in ensuring authenticity and honesty in all aspects of life will be translated into the administration of organizations or governments.

“Its success will create an efficient and effective management process and give confidence to the people that the government or an organization prioritizes the interests of the people and the country,” he said.
