77 traders were checked at Tapah Ramadan Bazaar

TAPAH: A total of 77 traders were inspected in conjunction with the Launching Ceremony of the Food Safety Operation at the Tapah Ramadan Bazaar at the Perak State level yesterday.

The launch ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the State Indian Community Affairs, Health and Human Resources Committee, A Sivanesan.

According to Sivanesan, an operation is an annual event carried out during the month of Ramadan with the aim of ensuring that food operators comply with food hygiene and safety standards.

“Under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983, premises owners and food operators can be subject to notice if they are found guilty of an offence such as not wearing an apron.

“Not attending the Food Handler Training course, no typhoid injection, not meeting food handler dress code and personal hygiene,” he told reporters.

In the event, he also carried out food inspections and sampling, in addition to handing out souvenirs in the form of hats and aprons as support for traders.
