IPOH: The police arrested a 66-year-old man believed to be involved in a robbery at a phone shop using a toy gun in Jalan Onn Jaafar, here yesterday.

Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Yahaya Hassan said, with the arrest of the suspect, the police successfully solved two more robbery cases using the same modus operandi that was reported on March 25 and April 5 around Pekan Baru, here.

“On April 22, at 4 pm the Ipoh PDRM received information about a robbery incident at a telephone shop.

Acting on the information, a police team from Pekan Baru Police Station rushed to the scene and arrested a 66-year-old local man.

“In addition to that, several case items were confiscated, including a backpack, a toy gun and two knife blades,” he told reporters on Sunday.

He added that the suspect has several past criminal and narcotics records.

He also said that the urine screening test found the suspect positive for the drug morphine.

“All three cases were investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code (armed robbery) and the investigation team managed to obtain a seven-day remand order from April 23 to 29 on the suspect for further investigation.
