Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Appointed as Director General of Health

Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan was appointed as Director General of Health with effect from April 1, 2023.

Dr Muhammad Radzi who was previously Deputy Director General of Health (Research and Technical Support) replaced Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who retired recently.

His appointment is based on his qualifications and extensive experience in the field of national health service as Deputy Director General of Health (Research and Technical Support) at the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) before being appointed as Director General of Health.

He once served as Head of the Medical Department at Sultanah Hospital Bahiyah, Kedah, Chief Medical Coordinator of Kedah State and Head of the Center Kedah Clinical Research.

Dr Muhammad Radzi was once appointed as Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services and chaired the accreditation of this field of expertise from 2013 until 2021.

Malaysian Health Minister, Dr Zaliha Mustafa in a media statement congratulated him on the appointment.

‘I am confident that with Datuk Dr Radzi’s experience, knowledge and expertise as well as credibility, he can give the best and be a teammate.

“This collaboration is important in ensuring that the national health reform goals and agenda are fully implemented in line with the Health White Paper that is being developed so that Malaysians can continue to enjoy comprehensive, quality and sustainable health services,” she said.
