Rescue operation to find drowned kids in the river continued on the third day

TANJUNG MALIM: The search and rescue operation (SAR) of a boy believed to have drowned after swimming in the river near Teratak River View Lubuk Hantu, Simpang Empat here last Saturday, continued for the third day.

Assistant Director of the Operations Division, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the search operation continued  downstream, using surface searching, and stream searching methods.

He also said that the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) dived in certain depths where the search team was divided into four groups.

“The group consisted of six people, each team went down the river for a distance of 3 kilometers (km), two rafting boats were used covering a distance of up to 5 km.

“The K9 unit has also focused detection on garbage traps within 10 km,” he said here today.

He said that among the agencies involved in the operation were JBPM (10), Royal Malaysian Police (12), Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (8), Pasukan Sukarelawan Malaysia (6), Slim Village Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) (7), Team Rescue Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (9) and PBS Hulu Bernam (6).

Last Saturday, the media reported that an eight-year-old boy was missing and believed to have drowned, while swimming in the river near Teratak River View Lubuk Hantu, Simpang Empat, Tanjung Malim.

It was reported that the victim was wearing a black swimsuit with green spots during the incident .
