Just returned to drug trafficking, a 36-year-old man was arrested with 4.4 kg of drugs

KAMPAR: Police arrested a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities and confiscated 4.4 kilograms of drugs worth RM38,792 in a raid at a house in Lawan Kuda here last night.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, a raid at about 12.30pm by a police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, Kampar District Police Headquarters arrested a 36-year-old man.

“As a result of the inspection carried out in the house, the police have found and confiscated the drugs believed to be a type of ecstasy powder 2,700 grams (g), caffeine (1,679 g), methampetamine (22 g), heroin (21 g), 15 erimin 5 pills (5 g), 11 ecstasy pills (6 g).

“The total value of the confiscated drugs amounted to RM38,792, equipment used to package and smoke the drugs was also seized,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Yusri said that the urine screening test conducted on the suspect was found to be positive for methamphetamine and his past criminal record also found that the suspect has 17 drug cases and one criminal case.

“Based on the investigation carried out, the suspect has only been active again in drug trafficking for a month.

“The seized drugs are suspected to be distributed in the local market in the state of Perak. The amount of seized drugs can be used by 6,700 drug addicts.

“This case is being investigated under Section 398 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the suspect has been remanded for seven days from today until next June 10 to assist the investigation,” he said.
