IPOH: The city of Ipoh is hosting the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday).

This meeting is specifically aimed at discussing the collaborative network of the three neighbouring countries to realise green initiative action plans.

The Chief Minister of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, stated that during the two-day meeting attended by the chief delegates of the three neighbouring countries, two important meetings will be held involving the 6th Green Cities Mayor-Council (GCMC) and the 6th Green Council Meeting (GCM).

“The chief delegates are also scheduled to receive a presentation from the representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) regarding the ASEAN Green Finance Catalyzing Facility (ACGF), which aims to facilitate financing for green initiatives in the participating countries.

“The meeting is expected to discuss reports, proposals, and inputs from the GCMC and GCM regarding the commitments of the three countries in promoting sustainable urban development throughout the participating countries.

“This meeting is also crucial for us to strengthen cooperation in climate actions, promote green production practices, and leverage the skills and knowledge of private entities to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Urban Development Framework (SUDF),” he stated in a statement on Tuesday.

In this regard, he mentioned that the two meetings held during the event are expected to enhance partnership and cooperation across a broader economic corridor for mutual benefit.

Saarani is scheduled to deliver an opening speech at the meeting, followed by the GCMC and GCM reports, a briefing on the IMT-GT Growth Triangle Progress Report, and a presentation by an ADB representative.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the outcomes of the discussions during the meeting are expected to be announced during the Chief Ministers and Governors Forum of IMT-GT scheduled to take place on September 27 in Batam, Indonesia.
