ALOR PONGSU: A lorry loaded with palm oil overturned and blocked the route at Kilometre (KM) KM183 from Alor Pongsu to Bukit Merah heading south, here today.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the accident caused all lanes to be blocked and traffic to be severely congested.
He was coincidentally at the scene of the incident and advised highway users to re-enter the Alor Pongsu toll road to the south.
“It is advised that road users exit the Bandar Baharu toll and re-enter the Alor Pongsu toll to go south.
“The congestion is really bad with the addition of the heavy rain,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
However, he said, the truck driver did not suffer any injuries.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highways Authority (LLM) in a statement informed that there was an accident on KM183 southbound from Alor Pongsu to Bukit Merah.
He said that all lanes were blocked and road users were advised to exit to the Alor Pongsu Plaza Toll.
