IPOH – The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), has selected Perak as the location for launching the Islamic Tourism Month 2023 (ITM).

The program will commence from August 21st to September 17th, 2023.

The launch was officiated by the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, at Hotel Casuarina@Meru yesterday.

“Perak is renowned for its rich history, culture, and natural beauty. With the support of the state government and the cooperation of the community, we have embarked on a journey to transform Perak into a Muslim-friendly premier destination in line with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 action plan.

“The Islamic Tourism Month 2023 is just the beginning of an exciting chapter, as we look forward to the grand event, Visit Perak 2024,” he stated in his speech at the event.

Present at the event were Deputy Minister of MOTAC, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan; Chairman of the Tourism, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee of the state, Loh Sze Yee; and Director-General of ITC, Nizran Noordin.

Meanwhile, Khairul Firdaus mentioned that MOTAC aims for 3.2 million arrivals of Muslim tourists in the country throughout the year 2023.

This number represents 20 per cent of the targeted 16.1 million foreign tourists for this year.

He emphasized that this goal can be achieved if players in the Muslim tourism industry collectively and holistically contribute, in addition to the role played by the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC).
