IPOH: A total of 36 traders at the Ipoh Night Market here received financial aid amounting to RM1,000 following the storm disaster that destroyed their business sites on August 30.

Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad when he attended the location, said that the donation was hoped to ease some of the burden and losses they had to bear.

“I have inspected and seen for myself the state of some of the stalls here that collapsed in the recent storm disaster.

“It is understood that a total of 36 stalls were affected and their operations had to be stopped for a while.

“I have also discussed with the landlord (privately owned) and they told me that the affected stalls will be moved to another block temporarily and the repair work will be done, ” he told reporters yesterday afternoon.

“I have met with 36 traders who have been affected by this disaster, it is hoped that they will be able to cover some of the losses they have suffered.

“Hopefully they will persevere in the face of the inclement weather and business operations will be able to continue as soon as possible,” he said.

Also present at the visit were several Exco Perak members, Salbiah Mohamed, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching and Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
