KTMB offers free one-way fares from three stations on September 16-17

IPOH: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering free one-way fares for two days from Saturday to Sunday (September 16-17) for three new stations in the state.

According to Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, the offer is limited to one-way trips from the three new stations; Ipoh Station, Sungai Siput Station and Kuala Kangsar Station to other stations on the KTM Komuter route between Ipoh to Butterworth as well as intermediate stations.

He said the initiative was driven by the Ministry of Transport, the state government and KTMB.

Saarani said, it follows the recent extension of KTM Komuter Utara service on the Butterworth to Padang Rengas to Ipoh Station which is able to bring a positive impact to Perak.

“It includes stimulating the growth of the tourism sector in the state.

“In addition, it also helps facilitate the daily affairs of the people of this state to work, shop, vacation and so on.

“The synergy with this party will continue to boost the tourism industry, especially in making the Visit Perak Year 2024 a success through various plans that are actively arranged to attract more tourists,” he said.

The journey from Butterworth Station to Ipoh Station takes 1 hour 56 minutes with an adult fare of RM12.80 for one way.

While the fare rate for children, the elderly, and the disabled is RM6.40 for one way.

The first train from Ipoh Station to Butterworth Station starts at 4.40am, while from Butterworth Station to Ipoh Station is at 5.30am.

The last train that operates from Ipoh Station is at 6.35pm and from Butterworth Station is at 7.10pm.

The public can get tickets online and plan their journey through KTMB Mobile (KITS) and MyRailtime applications provided.

This application can be downloaded through the Appstore, Play Store and App Gallery.
