TAIPING: The Taiping Road Runner (TRR) Spin Run 2023, now in its fourth year of organisation, will take place at Esplanade Field (Padang Esplanade) on October 22.
The Chairman of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir, stated that TRR, which was introduced in 2019, is organised by the Larut Matang and Selama Recreational Runners Club (Kelab Rekreasi Pelari-pelari Larut Matang dan Selama) in collaboration with Spin Sportwear and MPT.
He explained that the event, which was held in previous years, has consistently attracted the interest of participants from both within and outside the country.
“Almost 3,000 participants join each time the event is organised, including participants from within and outside the country, such as Kenya, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand.
“Registration for TRR Spin Run 2023 opened on April 10 and is still open until September 18 through the Check Point Spot and Howei websites.
“The Council welcomes the organisation of this event in line with the celebration of Taiping City’s 150th anniversary and Visit Perak Year next year,” he said on Friday.
He added that various categories will be contested, including Men’s Open, Men’s Veteran, Women’s Open, Women’s Veteran; with race distances of 21km, 10km, and a 5km Fun Run.
Each winner will receive cash prizes, a t-shirt for finishing, and a medal, and in addition to the race, a lucky draw will be held for all participants.
