Namibia and Switzerland Compete in International Hockey Championship

IPOH – Her Royal Highness, the Queen of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, graced the final match of the first edition of the Sultan Nazrin Shah Cup International Indoor Hockey Championship at the Indera Mulia Stadium here.

The final match witnessed a showdown between the teams of Namibia and South Africa.

In this decisive match, Namibian player Brynn Cleak emerged as the hero after his goal secured victory through a penalty shootout of 3-2, following a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, in the match for third and fourth place, New Zealand managed to defeat Australia with a score of 6-4.

The women’s tournament for the Tuanku Zara Cup saw South Africa crowned champions after defeating Switzerland 4-3, also through a penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie.

A total of seven countries participated in the six-day championship, which began on November 6, namely South Africa, Australia, Namibia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
