Firefighters dissuaded man from committing suicide

TAIPING: Firefighters dissuaded a disabled man (OKU) from committing suicide at Taman Long Jaafar, here early this morning.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) stated that a 21-year-old man attempted to commit suicide using a knife in his room.

They said that they received a call regarding the incident at 1:45 AM on Wednesday, and the team arrived at the location by 1:53 AM.

“Upon arrival at the scene, they found a disabled man, who is also a psychiatric patient, attempting suicide with a knife.

“There were minor injuries to the victim’s body, but not critical,” he told reporters here today.

He added that the victim was successfully persuaded by the firefighters to hand over the knife to the Malaysian Ministry of Health officials for follow-up action.

The operation, led by Senior Fire Officer II Ridwan Sudin, concluded at 2:54 in the morning.
