A police officer died while on duty; his motorcycle skidded to avoid an animal

MANJUNG: A police officer died after the motorcycle he was riding skidded and collided with a telecommunication pole, believed to have occurred while avoiding an animal crossing on Jalan Kampung Cina, Pantai Remis this evening.

According to the Chief of Manjung District Police, ACP Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, the male victim riding a Honda RS motorcycle, was involved in an accident while on duty.

He said the victim was confirmed dead at the Emergency Ward of Seri Manjung Hospital at around 6:30 in the evening.

“December 18, around 2:35 in the afternoon, the police were informed about a fatal accident involving a motorcycle ridden by a member of the Pantai Remis Police Station, believed to have skidded off the road on Jalan Kampung Cina, Pantai Remis.

“The initial investigation found that the incident occurred on Jalan Kampung Cina while the police officer was on duty, moving from the town of Pantai Remis to Kampung Cina.

“Upon reaching the scene, it is believed that the victim lost control while avoiding an animal, skidding and colliding with a telecommunication pole by the roadside,” said in the statement here today.

In addition, he mentioned that the victim was handed over to the Forensic Unit of Seri Manjung Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
