Muddy Potholes in Taman Simpang, Complaints Ignored!

By: Aida Aziz

TAIPING: Potholed roads filled with stagnant mud turned out to be a problem for residents.

This is the situation at Lorong Merbau, Taman Simpang here, which has allegedly persisted for a long time due to a road improvement project in the area.

According to a post by Erabekal Resources on the Facebook page Aku Anak Taiping, residents there have been facing issues with the road for years.

“I am compelled to express dissatisfaction with the contractor appointed by the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) to repair the roads in the park.

“Repeated complaints have been made by surrounding neighbours, yet so far there has been no action taken by the authorities.

“The potholed road has made it difficult for residents on that street to carry out their daily activities,” he said.

He further claimed that the project has been ongoing for almost three years, and during this period, residents have continued to face the same issues.

Meanwhile, some netizens living in the area agree with the raised issue, expressing disappointment with the unresolved matter.

Belle Sweager commented that the condition of the potholed road is very troublesome, especially for the elderly.

“The road is near my parents’ house, and when I come back, the car gets muddy.

“I’ve complained several times, but it’s been ignored. They come, dig, patch it up, and the same thing happens again.

“My father himself has filled the holes with sand to prevent the road from getting even worse,” she said.

Meanwhile, Wan Mohd Amir urged MPT to take immediate action.

“MPT can send representatives to inspect the area themselves, there’s no need for it to escalate to involving the YB (Member of Parliament),” he said.
