Sinopont Everthriving Expands Investment in Perak with Film Panel Factory

IPOH – Perak has been chosen as the location for China-based company Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co Ltd to establish its first overseas factory for manufacturing solar film panels.

The factory, situated in the Tasek Industrial Park here, has commenced operations with an investment of RM2 billion.

Operated by its Malaysian subsidiary, Sinopont Everthriving (M) Sdn. Bhd., the factory produces solar cell encapsulation film with an initial production capacity of 85 million square meters, sufficient to meet demand for approximately 10 gigawatts (GW).

“Sinopont’s investment in Perak will be implemented in phases, with plans to increase production capacity to 300 million square meters of encapsulation film, covering an estimated demand of 30 GW,” the statement said.

“When fully operational, it is expected to provide 300 job opportunities for locals,” the statement added.

Earlier, the factory’s opening ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Present at the event were the Director of Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co Ltd, Cao XiangLai; and Perak State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Industry, and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee.
