TAPAH: Another intriguing location introduced by the Perak government is the Sengoi Hik Discovery Centre, poised to become the newest attraction for tourists here.

“Sengoi Hik” is a term in the Semai Orang Asli language, meaning ‘Our People’.

The development of the Sengoi Hik Discovery Centre within the Lata Kinjang Eco-Rimba Park area will undoubtedly enhance visitors’ experiences.

This site provides more educational and interactive opportunities related to the indigenous culture and biological diversity of the park.

It also clearly reflects the Perak state government’s efforts to appreciate, acknowledge, and enrich the lives of the Orang Asli community.

The inauguration ceremony of the Sengoi Hik Discovery Centre was officiated by the Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Also present was the Director-General of the Department of Orang Asli Development, Datuk Sapiah Dato’ Mohd Nor.

In his address, Saarani stated that the initiative to develop the centre aligns with efforts to promote sustainability and the appreciation of the natural and cultural uniqueness of the area.

He mentioned that this offers a new atmosphere and experience not found elsewhere to tourists visiting the Lata Kinjang Eco-Rimba Park.

“What’s intriguing about the Sengoi Hik Discovery Centre is that visitors have the opportunity to interact directly with the local Orang Asli community.

“They can learn about their way of life, and culture, as well as their skills and proficiency in conserving the environment,” he said.

Since January, over 150,000 tourists from both domestic and international locations have visited the Lata Kinjang Eco-Rimba Park, generating revenue of RM1.4 million.
