Authorities Urged to Monitor Abandoned Shop Houses at Station 18

By Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

Ipoh, Station 18 Avenue: Rows of abandoned shophouses filled with heaps of rubbish along Stesen 18/4 lane undoubtedly portray a grim and repulsive sight.

An investigation by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic revealed that the shophouses in the area were once operational as evidenced by the presence of business signage.

According to public feedback, Shariman Azman, 45, expressed concern over the neglected state of the shophouses, lamenting the lack of action taken.

“If I’m not mistaken, these buildings were previously covered in the news and reported as breeding grounds for unhealthy activities. Unfortunately, the situation remains unchanged,” Shariman remarked.

“Besides the old and dilapidated structure of the buildings, what’s most distressing is the piles of unmanaged rubbish,” he added.

“Adjacent to these buildings, there are several piles of old rubbish left unattended by the Local Authorities,” Shariman continued.

“I hope the authorities will act promptly to address this issue. It not only tarnishes the city’s image but also poses a threat to the residents’ health,” he concluded.
