Continuous Dry and Hot Weather until Mid-April – MET Malaysia

MET Malaysia forecasts that dry and hot weather exceeding 35°C will persist in the Peninsula and Sabah until mid-April 2024.

Director-General of Health Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan reported 45 cases of heat-related illnesses as of April 13, 2024, including 33 cases of heat fatigue, 11 cases of heat stroke, and one case of heat cramps.

“Areas in several states have reached Alert Levels 1 and 2, with high temperatures and increased health risks. Two deaths due to heat stroke have been reported, affecting a 22-year-old man and a three-year-old boy in Kelantan.

“It is important to maintain adequate hydration and reduce outdoor activities during this hot weather season. The latest information can be found on the MetMalaysia website and the KKM website.

“The public is encouraged to take precautionary measures and avoid excessive exposure to hot weather,” he said.

Areas at Alert Level 1 (vigilant with daily maximum temperatures of 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days) include all states in Perlis, Kedah (Pulau Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pendang, Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim, Bandar Baharu, Baling, Padang Terap, Sik), Pulau Pinang (Northeast), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta), Kelantan (Gua Musang), Pahang (Raub), Sarawak (Limbang), and Sabah (Tenom, Beaufort, Tuaran).
