IPOH: Bintang Asli Remaja (BAR) Perak State-Level Competition 2024, held at the JKKN Auditorium here, is seen as a platform to nurture the interest of young people in traditional Malay music.
Organized by the Department of Culture and Arts of Malaysia (JKKN) Perak in collaboration with the Persatuan Seni Kayangan Perak, the event aims to preserve and popularize traditional Malay songs among teenagers in the country.
Besides enhancing community interest and aspiration towards traditional Malay songs, the competition also aims to counter the spread of external music that may undermine and deviate from national cultural standards.
The competition featured eight finalists, with four in the male category and four in the female category.
The finalists were selected based on video submissions received during the preliminary round, with nearly 30 entries submitted to JKKN Perak.
The contestants competing for the title of Bintang Asli Remaja State-Level Perak were judged by professional judges.
In the male category, Muhammad Imran Abdullah won first place with his performance of the song ‘Mas Merah’.
In the female category, Farah Nabilah Habibi clinched the title with the song ‘Embun Menitik’.
Both winners received a cash prize of RM 800, a trophy, a certificate, and will represent Perak in the National Bintang Asli Remaja Competition.
Meanwhile, the State Secretary, Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, was present to officiate the program.
