IPOH – Residents of Laluan Wira Jaya Timur 16, Taman Rapat Perdana, have expressed disappointment with the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd. for failing to address a growing sinkhole that poses a danger to road users.
According to a residents’ representative, the unattended sinkhole increasingly threatens safety in the area.
“The road risks further cracking due to erosion caused by the deepening sinkhole. So far, no preventive measures have been taken by the responsible authorities,” he stated.
He added that heavy rains filling the sinkhole have worsened the situation, especially as Laluan Wira Jaya Timur 16 is prone to flooding during the monsoon season.
“We once again appeal to the local authorities to repair this sinkhole immediately before the situation escalates and leads to accidents,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic had reported on the sinkhole incident at the same location, but thus far, no action has been taken by MBI or Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd.
At present, the sinkhole is marked only with cones as a warning to road users.
