By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) has appointed Biovisma Sdn. Bhd. (Green Energy Asia – GEA) as a strategic partner for a circular economy initiative through the collection of used cooking oil.

This aims to encourage residents to practice recycling of used cooking oil through trusted channels like GEA.

Through this partnership, GEA will actively support MDBG’s efforts to raise awareness and run educational campaigns on recycling used cooking oil.

The used cooking oil will be converted into renewable energy sources.

This collaboration reflects the shared vision of both parties as a sustainable solution to address waste management challenges.

Meanwhile, GEA’s Chief Business Development Officer, Muhammad Aswad Abdul Rashid, said that GEA recently received the 2024 Best Company award in the Sustainability category by business magazine TOP10 on December 3 in Kuala Lumpur.

This award acknowledges the company’s role and contributions in managing used cooking oil waste in the country.

Muhammad Aswad stated that this recognition reflects the trust and confidence customers have in the company’s efforts.

“This is recognition of our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and our innovative efforts in converting used cooking oil into biodiesel feedstock,” he said.
