Man found dead floating in fish pond

BIDOR: A man, aged around 23, who had been missing since yesterday, was found dead floating near a fish pond in Kampung Old Stream Bidor today.

According to the Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said that the victim, identified as Choong Weng Gui, was found floating 40 feet from the shore at 2:05 a.m.

He said the fire department received a call regarding the incident on Tuesday, around 5:12 p.m.

“Personnel from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

“It is understood that the victim had been sleeping with his friend at a hut nearby and was reported missing.

“His friend informed the family and conducted a search, but was unable to find him. The victim’s father then filed a police report and requested the fire department’s assistance,” he said here today.

As a result, he said the fire department team conducted a search using a boat and found the victim floating.

He further mentioned that the victim was brought to the shore and was confirmed dead by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) before being handed over to the police for further action.
