BAGAN DATUK: A class C fishing boat was destroyed by fire at the Fish Platform in Hutan Melintang, near here, on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 5:35 pm, but no casualties were reported.
The Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said members from the Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 5:49pm.
He further stated that the boat was 80 percent burned.
“Six fire department members carried out the firefighting efforts.
“The fire department used the ‘receo’ concept and conducted firefighting operations using portable pumps from an open water source,” he said in a statement last night.
