By Julian Matthews
She gathers broken things
along the river that once held their dreams.
Perhaps, if they could be pieced together as art
it will be a kind of redemption
for the things that were once whole,
that never made it to their intended destination.
Or maybe, to make them sing again, restore their souls,
tell their glorious tales brung on glorious sails,
the lands they traversed, the oceans they roamed,
and to finally be seen, be held again,
cherished in this warm, new place
called home.
