IPOH: The 2024 Hotel Guest Survey conducted by Tourism Malaysia revealed that a total of 970,611 foreign tourists visited Perak in 2024, compared to 867,665 in 2023.
Last year was the celebration of Visit Perak Year 2024.
State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, Loh Sze Yee, said the increase of 102,946 tourists reflects the effectiveness of Perak’s tourism promotion strategies.
He added that the 11.9 percent increase is something to be proud of.
“Domestic tourism data will be released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia through the Domestic Tourism Survey, which is expected around mid-year,” he said during the State Legislative Assembly session here.
Meanwhile, Sze Yee explained that tourist spending covers various aspects such as accommodation, transportation, fuel, food, purchases of various products like souvenirs, and entrance fees to tourist sites.
“Economic returns from these expenditures can be directly measured to contribute to the state’s economic cycle,” he said.
