‘Seen snakes at the playground several times’ – Residents

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: A visit to the children’s playground near Taman Sri Wani, Jelapang, found many children using the field in the evenings, despite it being overgrown with weeds.

Several individuals who use the field for recreational activities claimed that the grass is only trimmed in the middle section.

They added that this has been an ongoing issue, and some said they have seen venomous snakes in the overgrown areas.

According to residents, many children play football on the field, but other facilities cannot be used because they are covered by tall grass and weeds.

“The grass here is always overgrown. The workers who come to cut the grass only clear the middle part of the field.

“But the other areas of the field are completely neglected. We can’t even use the slide or exercise bars because they’re surrounded by thick vegetation.

“This field is a popular spot for the residents in the evening. If possible, please have it properly cleaned to avoid putting users at risk,” one resident said.

Residents hope the relevant authorities will address the issue promptly, as this public facility is frequently used, especially by children.
