By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Urban issues such as waste management, drainage, overgrown grass, and potholes are key focus areas for the Ipoh City Council (MBI), as these are basic community needs that require attention.

This was emphasized by the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah, who stated that he will ensure these core responsibilities are given top priority.

“I will make sure that MBI’s core responsibilities — ‘Back to Basics’ — are prioritized, which include waste issues, drainage, grass maintenance, and the upkeep of public amenities, including potholes.

“This is to make Ipoh a cheerful, clean, resident-friendly, and eco-friendly city,” he said in a statement after his swearing-in ceremony as the 13th Mayor of Ipoh.

The event was attended by the Perak State Secretary, Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, and State Executive Council Member, Sandrea Ng.

In the statement, Zamakhshari pledged to bring about a paradigm shift in delivering excellent services and to transform Ipoh into a progressive smart city.

“I will ensure that MBI’s vision of making Ipoh a smart city and a low-carbon city by 2030 is achieved.

“To the citizens of Ipoh, the responsibility of developing this city lies with all of us,” he added.
