IPOH: Perak aims to provide 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging points by the end of 2025, in line with the national target of 10,000 chargers across the country.
To date, 149 charging points have been installed at 56 locations throughout the state, including urban areas, highways, and major tourist destinations, representing 29% of Perak’s overall target.
The latest addition is the installation of three new EV charging units at the main parking area of Hotel Casuarina@Meru, offering 24-hour access and digital payment features for public convenience.
Among the units installed is a 120kW DC fast charger with dual CCS2 connectors, along with two 22kW AC chargers.

This initiative is part of a strategic collaboration between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Casuarina Meru Sdn Bhd and is seen as a significant step towards positioning Perak as a hub for clean technology investment and eco-friendly tourism under the state’s Perak Sejahtera 2030 vision.
The move also supports Perak’s broader goal of advancing green mobility through the wider deployment of EV charging infrastructure across the state.
The installation followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties, witnessed by Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
TNB President and CEO Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan said at least 10 more locations under the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) are currently being assessed for the next phase of development.
“TNB, through its subsidiaries, has adopted a dual-role approach in Malaysia’s EV ecosystem—as both electricity provider and charge point operator.
“To date, TNB operates more than 80 charging stations nationwide, including key locations such as the Tapah and Gunung Semanggol R&Rs, as well as several AEON outlets in Perak,” he added.
