IPOH: 176 staff members from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) were recognised at the MBI Excellence Service Awards and Proficiency Awards 2024 ceremony held earlier today.

Of the total, 121 men and 55 women, received the Excellence Service Award (APC), while 60 others were presented with the Proficiency Award.

Each APC recipient received an incentive worth RM1,000 in the form of a Bank Simpanan Nasional Premium Savings Certificate, a certificate of appreciation, and a commemorative gold coin.

Proficiency Award recipients, on the other hand, received a RM400 Premium Savings Certificate and a certificate of appreciation.

The event was officiated by Perak State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman YB Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, who reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening local governance and administration.

Speaking on behalf of Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, MBI Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak said the recognition would inspire council staff to strive for even greater achievements in positioning Ipoh as one of the top city councils in the country.

“The continuous support and commitment shown by YB Sandrea will motivate all parties to work harder towards realising Ipoh’s vision of becoming a Smart and Prosperous City, in line with the Perak State Government’s aspirations for 2030,” he said during the ceremony at Casuarina@Meru Hotel here.

He added that 2025 should be seen as a turning point for improving the quality of MBI’s services for the benefit of Ipoh residents.

“Let us move forward as a team, celebrating successes, addressing shortcomings, and striving together for even greater accomplishments,” he added.

Ahmad Munir also noted that the Proficiency Award is a special council-level recognition established to honour officers who not only demonstrate excellence in their work but also exhibit outstanding character and active involvement in community and social initiatives.
