IPOH- Ipoh is set to host the second edition of the Malaysia Culinary World Cup (MCWC) 2025 from June 27 to 29 at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru Raya.
Organised by the Malaysia Bersatu Culinary Association (MBCA) in collaboration with the Global Chef Union (GCU), the event is expected to attract nearly 800 participants from 26 countries, including the United States, Australia, North Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
The inaugural MCWC in 2023, held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, made history by being recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest culinary competition with 713 participants.
This year’s edition has already received close to 800 entries, comprising 600 local and over 200 international participants.

The competition will feature 65 categories, encompassing professional chefs and culinary students, with a special inclusion of categories for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), both adults and children.
A panel of 115 professional chefs, including 55 international and 60 local judges, will oversee the event.
In addition to the competitions, 80 booths will be available for local vendors to showcase and sell their products at affordable rental rates throughout the three-day event.
During a press conference held at Tandoor Grill Restaurant in Ipoh, Canning assemblywoman Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, representing Perak’s Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, stated that the event serves as a platform to unearth culinary talents and offers opportunities for the hospitality and tourism industries to scout for new talents.
MBCA President Chef Arthur Lim highlighted that hosting the event in Ipoh aims to promote Perak’s tourist attractions and introduce the state’s unique cuisine to the world.
Meanwhile, Chef Fazalina Ismail emphasised the introduction of a special category for PWDs for the first time.
“A total of 51 PWD participants, including students and entrepreneurs, have registered, with a participation fee of RM50.
“This category aims to provide opportunities for PWDs to showcase their culinary skills and open up employment prospects in the related industries. The public is also encouraged to join MBCA,” she said.
