IPOH – A charity run with the 79th edition of the Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD) yesterday focused on raising funds to support families of children undergoing cancer treatment.

More than 3,000 participants joined the five-kilometre Super Hero Fun Run @ Ipoh Low Carbon Day, organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) in collaboration with the Children’s Cancer Welfare Association Kami Endah (PEkA) and Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

According to the organisers, the programme not only aimed to raise public awareness of childhood cancer but also served as a platform to collect donations for young patients who needed financial support throughout their treatment journey.

“This initiative also fosters healthy interaction between patients, their families, and the wider community,” the statement read.

Held in conjunction with World No Tobacco Day, the event drew participants from all walks of life, including civil servants, students, families, and non-governmental organisations.

Several exhibition booths were set up to share information on childhood cancer, such as early warning signs, health facts, and common myths surrounding the disease.

One of the main attractions was the Proton e-MAS booth, which showcased five units of the e-MAS7 electric vehicle (EV), reflecting MBI’s low-carbon city aspirations.

MBI expressed hope that programmes like this will strengthen efforts to position Ipoh as a Bandaraya Bestari Sejahtera – a liveable smart city that champions health awareness, sustainability, and community solidarity.
