CHEMOR – Kampung Ulu Kuang is set to be developed into a motorsports hub for the Hulu Kinta area under the Sejati Madani programme, an initiative aimed at uplifting the socio-economic status of the local community.
The official launch of the village’s all-terrain vehicle (ATV) initiative and Motorsports Carnival was officiated by Kinta District Officer Zulhisham Ahmad Shukori, who also presented appointment letters to the SMART TEAM committee, a special response unit tasked with early disaster management before emergency personnel arrive.
Zulhisham stated that the village has consistently achieved success in various competitions, including the District-Level Model Village, Aspirasi Desa Madani (ADM), and Aspirasi Desa Sejahtera (ADS) at the state level.
Ulu Kuang is currently awaiting the results of the national-level ADM competition under the debate and public speaking categories.
Meanwhile, JPKK chairman Hamdan Ishak said that the acquisition of ATVs and the launch of a mushroom cultivation project were part of the community’s efforts to stimulate income generation through the Sejati Madani grant.
“This initiative helps create job opportunities and improves the villagers’ quality of life,” he said.
Resident Roziah Hanim said she was pleased with the arrival of ATVs in the village, believing that the activity could attract tourism and boost youth interest in motorsports.
“This is a great opportunity to develop the village through tourism and economic activities,” she said.
The programme also featured charity visits via ATV, traditional games, gotong-royong (community clean-up), government agency exhibitions, and an awareness talk on electricity tariffs by the Department of Information.
