TAIPING: The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) raided a residence in Kampung Matang Kamunting, Trong, for storing cylinders suspected to contain liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The Director of KPDN Perak, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, stated that the raid was carried out on Tuesday.
“Upon inspection, a total of 26 LPG cylinders weighing 14kg each and 14 cylinders of 12kg were found, along with two empty 14kg cylinders at the front section of the house.
“The house is occupied by a married couple aged around 54 and 44 years old.
“They failed to produce any authorization letter, license, or permit to store controlled items when requested by the inspection team,” he said.

As a result, enforcement officers from the Taiping KPDN branch confiscated 42 LPG cylinders, with the estimated seizure value totaling RM4,370.
The case will be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for allegedly committing an offense of possessing or storing scheduled controlled items — namely diesel oil — without written permission from the Controller of Supplies.
